The blend of fish meat, chopped cockle, gammarus, mysis, bloodworm and vegetable food is the ideal diet for the South American variety of Cichlid. It will help to improve fish health, colour and readiness to breed. It will add variety to your fish's diet, without the risk of disease normally associated with feeding live food.

Making sure your fish are fed the right food can make a big difference in their development and to their overall wellbeing. Frozen fish food offers your coldwater, marine and tropical fish with a diet very similar to what they would find in their natural habitat. The vitamins and nutrients found in frozen fish food will stimulate eating, boost colouration, and provide a healthy appetite and immune system.

It will take between 5 to 10 working days before we ship your package depending on a week day of placing the order.  We combine postage for multiple products.

Below is some information about feeding a few of the insects that are blended in this food:

About Gammarus:

Gammarus Shrimp, also known as scuds, are freshwater amphipod crustaceans naturally occurring in slow running rivers and lakes measuring approximately 1 cm. They are often found in slow runs over Chara weed, providing a staple preferred food source for trout. Likewise, they are a readily consumed by nearly all aquarium fish. Not only do they provide a great source of protein and roughage to aid in digestion, they are one of the best natural colour enhancing food for fish. Trout heavily fed on scuds are known to be not only well fattened, but also the most colourful.

About Bloodworm:

You have selected one of the best tropical fish foods available. You will find that your fish will be healthier and maintain their true colours. It's a perfect food for conditioning and breeding your fish. These worms are laboratory produced, certified free of parasites. These are larvae of non-biting midge (Family Chironomidae) containing haemoglobin. Frozen foods will keep longer than live foods (live food should be used within 2 or 3 days of buying them). The larvae life cycle is short, usually just 10-12 days.

This creature is one of the primary foods in the aquatic food chain. Almost every species of meat eating fish will consume this worm. It is also used to feed other aquatic animals such as salamanders, turtles, crabs, frogs, shrimp and snails.

Worms from the genus Glycera are a group of bristle worms that are usually found living on the seabed of marine waters. They can grow up to 14 inches and are a creamy pink colour. They also have a venomous bite.

Bloodworms, the larvae of the non-biting midge fly, are bright red in colour. They have this colour due to the red iron-porphyrin protein in their blood and tissue. They can thrive in polluted water with low oxygen levels because of their haemoglobin content.

They are ideal for large tanks which have many fish.

Whilst live foods are usually more nutritious than frozen foods, they do have a higher risk of carrying infection and disease. For this reason, it’s not recommended to collect your own worms or larvae from the wild.

Live ones are ideal for conditioning fish if you want them to breed; they are commonly used to condition Betta fish.
