Vallisneria asiastica is a delightful plant with wonderful curls to it and is really an eye catcher. It also loves good lighting. A very easy to grow and keep plant although they prefer the water temperature to not be too warm. Ideal for beginners as they are so undemanding and require very little maintenance.
They will grow fine in gravel however add some root tabs for nutrients or go for a nutrient rich substrate such as Tropica Aquarium Soil. They throw off runners which can later be cut off and re-planted where ever you desire, or alternatively let them grow and spread naturally and create a curtain effect.
Vallisneria asiatica bunches consist of approximately stems which are approximately 20-25cm in length.Vallisneria Asiatica (Vallisneria americana "Asiatica") is a very attractive corkscrew variant of the hardy and undemanding Jungle Vallisneria plant that is ideal for the larger aquarium. Its parent species is one of the most long- and often-kept plant species in the aquarium hobby due to its ease of care and durability. It is a perfect background plant that will grow all the way to the top of the aquarium and it propagates prolifically. It is one of the few plants that can tolerate brackish water, although it will not grow as quickly under these conditions.
Vallisneria Asiatica is a member of the tapegrass plant family. It can grow over two feet tall and it provides valuable refuge for timid fish and fry, which will actually encourage those shy species to venture into the open more often. Vallisneria Asiatica should be planted with its crown above the substrate. It will establish strong roots and is unlikely to be uprooted by bottom-dwelling fish. Its leaves can be trimmed to avoid excessive growth.
Vallisneria sp. Asiatica has twisted, green leaves that make a beautiful contrast when planted in groups. Its shorter leaves (20-30 cm) differ from most other Vallisneria species and do not overshadow other plants in the aquarium. An easy plant that readily propagates via runners.
Regarding stem plants, remove the leaves from the lowest 5 cm (2“). Remove any damaged leaves. Plant the individual plants with some distance into the bottom substrate. Roots will develop soon and the plant start growing.
